Research in Action to Change Systems

At Liberty, we focus primarily on promoting a thriving life for those in our Healing Enterprise community. We also know that our systems need to change to promote liberation for our community and marginalized communities everywhere. We see alignment in these goals. Healing Centered Engagement approach calls for individuals to bring action to social change as part of their own healing journey. Liberty pairs engagement with actionable systems change efforts. Whether its our participation in the Birth Justice Collaborative, climate action initiatives or engaging 21st Century Academy Scholars in Youth Participatory Action Research, we bring community voice and initiative community action to help change systems.

University of Minnesota Partnership

Liberty has had a meaningful partnership with the University of Minnesota through UROC for nearly two decades. We work with faculty across multiple disciplines including social work, nursing, and maternal health. Check out our community-engaged research on the critical topic of sex trafficking in North Minneapolis. This is a good example of our research in action approach.
