HomePlace is organizing our supports with African American birthing families to promote health and wellbeing. We are building our partnerships and tools, and would like to understand your priorities.

Please let us know what supports you might utilize so we can prioritize our offerings. We have included your name so we know what supports you might need. This information will not be shared beyond our HomePlace staff.

What resources would you participate in to increase your sense of healing and connection?

Groups where I can get to know other African American birthing families
Ceremonial opportunities (such as baptism, naming ceremonies, etc)
Group baby shower
Yoga or other mindfulness opportunities
Bodywork such as massage
Learn about chronic stress and how I can lower it

How might we provide practical support and knowledge about your pregnancy, birth, or postnatal?

Support with birth plan development
Learning how to prevent likely medical issues that could arise (ie- such as high blood pressure)
Lactation support
Support around parenting a newborn
Help understanding my post-partem wellbeing

How can we help ensure you have access to use trusted medical providers?

Help us connect with prenatal care that would be most likely to recognize African American cultural ways
Help us find a location for having my baby
Help us connect with pediatric care that would be most likely to recognize African American cultural ways

What support would you seek to reduce impacts of economic hardship?

Housing supports, such as finding a new place to live or help with rent/mortgage
Career development (ie support determine what job or career you would seek)
